1965 Ford Mustang

The Mustang, as we found it in 2012
Here's a car that belonged to my college buddy Jason. We used to cruise around in this ride back in the day. I happened to ask about it when standing up for his wedding years later, and he told me it got sick and stopped running shortly after we graduated, eventually getting towed back to his grandfather's barn, laying dormant for 15 years. When he offered to sell it to me, I knew it was going to be a challenge to restore skill-wise, but there are no shortage of parts available and I'm ready for this challenge. Additionally, there are cars, and then there are family rides. Jason is a real brother to me, so I am honored to restore his ride. This is the first car I've ever torn down to bare metal, nuts, and bolts. This is the first engine I've ever torn down to a bare block and rebuilt. Lots of firsts. I'm on a 2-year build schedule that is scheduled to wrap up in October 2017. I've chronicled this build since I brought it home, and hope everyone enjoys sharing in the triumphs and troubles as much as I like digging in and getting her done.

Engine looked iffy, and came with tales of woe...

...so we pulled the engine...

...tore it down...

...and rebuilt it from the ground up.
Believe it! This is that same 289, rebuilt with aluminum heads and EFI
